The water pump pulls in coolant through the water pipe and thermostat housing. when the thermostat is closed, it is essentially a closed loop cooling system (keeps fluid circulating through the block and heater core). when the thermostat opens, "cold" coolant is pulled through to the water pump, where it is pumped into the block, and "spit" out. 1537 posts · joined 2008. #1 · jul 26, 2010. does anyone have an electrical diagram or layout of the cooling system. i noticed that both my fans come on when the a c is on but i don't think they come on when the a c is off and the engine gets warm to where they need to turn on. (in other words i haven't see it come on without the a c on.
