1st Grade Toucan Diorama With Rain Forest Set Up Diorama Touc 1 prepare a shoebox. for optimum space, use a large shoebox and keep the lid attached. positioning the box upright also provides the vertical space needed for tall rainforest trees. keep the box lid permanently fixed at a 90 degree angle by attaching a small box at the bottom portion of the hinge. use a glue gun or tacky glue to keep the small. Today we are creating a toucan habitat diorama. also, look at my page rain forest – amazon, rain forest – animals of the amazon and rainforest activities for kids or more ideas, crafts and activities. our diorama resembles the rainforest canopies of central and south america where the toucan make their home.

Create a stunning 1st grade rainforest diorama with a canopy layer and a toucan habitat. learn about the tropical rainforest and its diverse ecosystem. Use your imagination! first, we went over all the animals. i put together a couple pages of animals that live in the rainforest with a fact or two about each one. i gave them each a black and white page of the animals to color as we talked about each one. these are the animals we cut out to put in our diorama. Materials. to create your rainforest diorama, you will need: three boxes (shoeboxes work wonderfully!) step one: prep the boxes. we started by cutting the tops off of the boxes and painting the interiors green. we even “mixed in” some color theory as we mixed three different shades of green paint (pun 100% intended).

Tip 1: use realistic materials. i always try to use realistic materials when creating a rainforest diorama. this helps to make the diorama look more authentic and engaging for kids. some materials that work well include: realistic looking artificial plants and trees. moss, rocks, and pebbles. sand, dirt, and gravel. Step 12: waterfall. take the ice cream container and cut around the whole container. the cut out piece should be rectangle in shape. this is used to support the fondant for the waterfall. then take the fondant and add blue food colouring to it. then shape the fondant into thin long strips, you may need 4 to 5 strips.
