4369 1247134844 Jpg British rail class 33. the british rail class 33, also known as the brcw type 3 or crompton, is a class of bo bo diesel electric locomotives, ordered in 1957 and built for the southern region of british railways between 1960 and 1962. they were produced as a more powerful type 3 (1,550 bhp) development of the 1,160 bhp type 2 class 26. Class 33: d6508 in br green livery at eastleigh 27th september 1992. built 1960 by brcw works number del100 as d6508. later became 33008. class 33: 33117 in blue livery at exeter st davids 31st july 1989. built brcw 1960 works number del128 as d6536. class 33: 33025 in west coast rail livery at maidenhead 26th august 2008.

Brcw type 3. during january class 33s began crew training from bristol pending conversion of the bristol portsmouth service from class 31 4 to class 33 haulage starting may. january 14th: an eastleigh wrenthorpe car train was worked as far as treeton junction by 33002, where the train was stabled and the class 33 returned light, presumably. On december 15th a contract was signed for the harry needle railroad company to sell seventeen locomotives of classes 20 & 33 to direct rail services. the class 33s involved were 33002, 33008, 33023, 33029, 33053, 33057, 33203, 33205 & 33207. 2001. by the end of january the outlook for the two ews class 33s was bleak.
