Need help identifying broken vacuum line 2002 gc. 2002 grand cherokee with 4.0 awd. there is a vacuum line that runs from the intake manifold backward and then runs along the top of the cowl. it then drops down and runs along the right side fender well and goes under the head light bucket. that line is fine.

Isolating the cc vacuum, it seems to work fine, photo 1. the red line, that hose goes to the engine where it's supposed to be pulling vacuum, photo 2. the white line, that hose loops around to the air, and needs to be tight because it pulls vacuum for the vacuum motor which opens airflow, photo 3.

Price to replace the airbox is $287. it's still never thrown a code, and the tech agrees that if there was any significant vacuum leakage it would throw a code. since this fitting is forward of the maf sensor, it's automatically compensating for any loss of vacuum pressure.
