At 5'5", you may find them a bit tall, but it is really pending on the model the bike. i am 6 foot, and when standing at a stop, i find honda xr650's absolutely towering (i tippy toe), but the suzuki dr650 has me flat footed, with a slightly bent knee. (much lower seat and overall height). i haven't sat on the wr's yet, so i can't comment.
